Lush Lodge is a four star property on Austin Avenue Northeast with a full house behind it rather than a hotel corridor. You get a kitchen with an oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, a toaster and a dishwasher, plus a washing machine, an iron and board, towels and a hairdryer. There is a bath and a bathroom, air conditioning, a fireplace, a TV, free wifi and internet access. Outside there is a garden and a swimming pool. Parking is free and on site. The list is thin on the things a hotel normally provides: no restaurant, no bar, no gym and no reception desk. There is a first aid kit and a smoke detector, which is where the safety detail stops.
For the right person Lush Lodge works as a base you live in rather than a room you sleep in. The kitchen and washing machine make a week here easier than a week in a hotel, and the garden and pool give you somewhere to be that is not the bedroom. Pets are allowed, which widens who can take it. The trade is service: with no desk, no food and no daily routine beyond cleaning, you are running the place yourself. Lush Lodge suits families, groups and longer stays in Inman Park. It does not suit anyone who wants a concierge, a bar downstairs or a hot breakfast without cooking it.

Where it puts you
Inman Park is on the east side of Atlanta, and the hotels in this group sit inside it rather than near it. The rail connection is Inman Park, Blue, which puts you on the line that runs through the centre of the city. The trail is at the door, so the BeltLine is something you step onto rather than travel to, and the 3.0 figure applies to this neighbourhood.
The site's own summary is Victorian porches, big trees, a MARTA station and the trail, and it calls this the most expensive comfortable choice on the east side. That is a fair description of who it suits: you want to walk out to the trail, ride the Blue line, and come back to a leafy street of old houses. It does not suit you if you are watching what you spend, or if you want the newest buildings and the densest restaurant rows.
