What you get
The Ice Cream Shop is a four star property on North Highland Avenue Northeast, in Little Five Points. The listed facilities are those of a whole apartment rather than a hotel room: a kitchen with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, toaster and coffee, plus a washing machine and iron and board. There is air conditioning, a desk, a TV and free wifi, a hairdryer and towels, and a bathroom. Outside there is a patio and a swimming pool, with free car parking on site. Pets are allowed and the property is non smoking, with a smoke detector and first aid kit listed. Where the list is thin is services: there is no front desk, no restaurant and no daily cleaning beyond what is listed as cleaning, so the Ice Cream Shop expects you to run the place yourself.
What this adds up to at the Ice Cream Shop is self sufficiency. You cook, you wash, you park the car and you let yourself in, and in exchange you get space and a pool rather than a lobby and a bar. It is right for a family or a small group staying several days, for someone in Atlanta on a longer work stay who wants a desk and a kitchen, and for anyone travelling with a dog, since pets are allowed here and are not at most hotels. It is wrong if you want your bed made for you, a concierge, or a room you can check into at any hour without arranging it first. Little Five Points itself puts shops, bars and food within reach of the door, and the Inman Park station is listed at 12 min, with the trail 0.5 mi away.

Where it puts you
You are in Little Five Points, on the east side of town. This is record shops, the Variety Playhouse and the loudest street corner in the city, and it stays loud into the small hours. If you want quiet mornings and an early night, look elsewhere on the site.
The rail connection at Inman Park, 12 min, puts the rest of the city within reach, and 0.5 mi to trail opens the BeltLine at mile 20.6 for walking or riding. Both are useful if you plan to spend your days out rather than in the room. The neighbourhood is best on foot, and the street itself is the attraction. It suits people who want the bars and the venues on the doorstep and do not mind the noise that comes with them.
Booking it
Book the Ice Cream Shop directly if you want a kitchen, parking and pets allowed rather than hotel service. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
Facts on this page come from the booking supplier's record: star class, address, photographs and facility list. Guest scores come from verified stays. We have not stayed here; the neighbourhood copy is our own.
