What you get

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Atlanta Airport North GA is a two star property, and the listed facilities are built around the airport trip and the practical stay. There is a 24 hour front desk, a shuttle service, free car parking and free wifi, plus a business centre, a fitness centre and an indoor pool with a jacuzzi. Rooms list air conditioning, a desk, a microwave, a refrigerator, a TV, a telephone, a safe, a hairdryer, an iron and board, and non smoking rooms, with family rooms available. Housekeeping comes in, and there is a laundry service and dry cleaning. The list is thinner on food and drink: a bar is listed, but no restaurant and no breakfast is named, so plan on eating elsewhere.

What that adds up to at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Atlanta Airport North GA is a bed and a car park close to the airport, not a base for seeing the city. The shuttle, the free parking and the 24 hour desk are what make the place work for a night before an early departure or a short layover, and the pool and jacuzzi are a reasonable way to fill a few hours if you are stuck. The thin food offering and the two star rating are the trade off. It suits you if your trip is a flight, a car and a bag. It does not suit you if you want the city on your doorstep or a restaurant in the building.

Where it puts you

These hotels sit in College Park, on the airport side of town, and the rail connection is the reason to be here. Airport, Red/Gold is the line you want: it puts you on the same system that runs through the centre, so you can reach Five Points without a car, and the site's own verdict on the area is blunt enough to quote: the cheapest bed in metro Atlanta and sixteen minutes by train to Five Points. Right for an early flight, wrong for a holiday.

The BeltLine side is different. College Park is off the loop, which means the trail is not on your doorstep and this is not a neighbourhood you pick for walking the city. What is walkable here is ordinary: you stay close to the station, you eat nearby, you sleep. Book it if you have a plane to catch or you want the lowest bed cost in the metro. Do not book it if you came to Atlanta for the BeltLine.

Booking it

Book this one only if the airport is the point of the trip, because that is the job it is built for. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.

How we know this
