The building itself covers the practical side with a 24 hour front desk, lifts, air conditioning, wifi, a business centre, a fitness centre, laundry and dry cleaning service, luggage storage, a market, a garage and valet parking, and it is wheelchair accessible with family rooms and pets allowed. Where the list is thin is food and drink: a bar or snack cafe, bars, breakfast and a buffet are named, and a lounge, but nothing beyond that, so do not arrive expecting a full restaurant under the same roof.
What that adds up to is a base for a stay measured in days rather than a night. Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Midtown Peachtree at 17th gives you a kitchen you can actually cook in, a place to wash clothes, a desk to work at and parking for a car, which is exactly what a relocating family, a contractor on a long project or a business traveller with a fortnight of meetings needs. It is also fine for a short visit if you want Midtown on foot and the Red and Gold lines within reach, and there is 0.4 mi to trail for anyone who runs or cycles. It is the wrong choice if you want a holiday hotel with a pool, a destination restaurant and a lobby to sit in.

Where it puts you
Midtown is the default answer for staying in Atlanta, and usually the right one. Two rail stations put the whole city within reach without a car: the Midtown, Red/Gold stop is the one you will use most, though the neighbourhood is served by more than one. The park, the High, and the trail four blocks east are all part of the package. The trail label reads 0.4 mi to trail, and the BeltLine mile is 17.6, so you are on the east side of the loop rather than at its ends.
This suits you if you want to leave the car parked and walk to what you came for, and if you would rather be in the middle of things than in a quiet residential pocket. It does not suit you if you want a quiet street, free parking, or a base for the airport side of town. The trade is convenience for calm.

Book this one when you want a kitchen and a washing machine more than you want a lobby, and check the cancellation terms before you commit.
