What you get
Joshua Tree lists a full kitchen: oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and toaster, plus a washing machine, iron and board. You also get air conditioning, free wifi, a TV, a desk, towels, a hairdryer, a bath and a bathroom, and the place is non smoking with a smoke detector and first aid kit. Outside there is a garden and free car parking. The list is thin on anything beyond the practical: one photo on file, no reception, no breakfast, no bar, nothing social.
What that adds up to is a self-contained apartment rather than a hotel, and you should book it as one. Joshua Tree suits someone driving into Atlanta, staying several days, cooking in and treating Virginia-Highland as a neighbourhood to walk and cycle from. It does not suit anyone wanting daily cleaning, a front desk, a restaurant downstairs or a hand held through their stay. If you want a serviced room and a lobby, look elsewhere in Virginia-Highland. If you want a kitchen and your own key, this is the shape of place you are after.

Where it puts you
You are in Virginia-Highland, on the northeast side of town, a grid of bungalow blocks and a walkable village of bars. There is no rail here, so you get around by bus and bike, or on foot once you are in the village. The BeltLine trail is 0.3 mi to trail, close enough to reach it without a car, and it is how you get to the rest of the trail network from this side of the city.
The site's own read on the area: "Bungalow blocks and a walkable village of bars. Almost no hotels, mostly short-let rooms, so book well ahead." That shortage is the thing to plan around, not the neighbourhood itself. This suits you if you want to walk to bars and reach the trail without driving. It does not suit you if you need rail at the door or a front desk on demand.
Booking it
Booking Joshua Tree is straightforward, but confirm the kitchen and pet arrangement before you commit, since the listing is light on detail. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
Facts on this page come from the booking supplier's record: star class, address, photographs and facility list. Guest scores come from verified stays. We have not stayed here; the neighbourhood copy is our own.
