What that means for you is simple: the zoo, the Cyclorama and the best Sunday farmers market in the city are things you travel to, not things on your doorstep. Families end up in Grant Park and stay put, so if that is the trip you want, book inside the loop instead.
If you stay out here, treat the car as the default. King Memorial, 20 min, and 0.6 mi to trail are the two anchors the site records for this side of town, and they tell you the shape of the place: you are reaching the city rather than standing in it. Good for a base, wrong for a holiday spent wandering.
