What you get
Dapper Dan lists a kitchen with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and toaster, plus coffee, so you can cook and eat in rather than go out. It also lists a washing machine, an iron and board, towels, a hairdryer, air conditioning, non smoking rooms, a TV, free wifi and internet access. Free car parking is on site, and pets are allowed. Smoke detector and first aid are noted. The list runs to the kitchen, the laundry and the practical kit. It does not list a lift, a bar, a restaurant, a gym or a reception.
What that adds up to at Dapper Dan is a self-catering house with a garden and room for a car and a dog, so the stay is about settling in rather than being served. Decatur sits on the Blue and Green lines, and the property is off the loop, which matters if you plan to leave the car parked. Book Dapper Dan if you want a kitchen, a washing machine and your own gate, and if you are staying a few days rather than one. Do not book it if you want a front desk, a concierge or a room serviced like a hotel.

Where it puts you
Decatur is its own small city six miles out, with a square, a rail station and the best restaurants-per-capita in Georgia. That rail station is on the Blue and Green lines, so you can reach the rest of the system without driving and without a transfer at a downtown hub. The square, the station and the surrounding streets are the walkable part, and they hold most of what you would come here for.
This is off the loop, so the BeltLine trail is not on your doorstep; the trail label reads off the loop. Suits anyone who wants a self-contained town with a rail link and a real restaurant scene. Does not suit anyone who wants to step out onto the BeltLine or be in central Atlanta.
Booking it
Book Dapper Dan if the kitchen, the parking and the pets matter more to you than a front desk. Most rooms here can be cancelled free, and you book them through app.impt.io. Every confirmed booking removes one tonne of CO2, at no extra cost to you. Five percent of what you pay comes back as IMPT credit, out of the hotel commission rather than added to your bill.
