What you get

The wider building adds a restaurant, a bar and snack bar, a market, room service, a fitness centre, a gymnasium, an outdoor pool, and a terrace and garden to sit out on. Practicalities are covered: twenty four hour front desk, twenty four hour security, express check in, lifts, luggage storage, housekeeping, valet parking and a garage, wheelchair access, family rooms and pets allowed. On the thin side: no airport shuttle and no spa, and the balcony and iPod dock on the list read as line items rather than anything you would plan a stay around.
For someone staying here, what that adds up to is a hotel that works rather than charms. Clean lines, no drama, everything where you expect it. The verdict follows from that: right for a business trip, a convention or a night before an onward train, and right if you want a pool and a gym without paying for a resort. Wrong if Downtown Atlanta is your holiday, and wrong if you want the building itself to be the reason you came.

Where it puts you
You are staying Downtown, inside the loop, where the train at Five Points puts every line in the city within reach. That is the point of the location: you can move around Atlanta without a car, and the rest of the trip is built on that. The site's own line on the neighbourhood is blunt about the trade: the cheapest walk to a train in the city, with convention traffic setting the price, so a Tuesday in January is a different hotel than a Tuesday in October.
The BeltLine trail is also here, and the 0.8 mi to trail is the figure to keep in mind if you plan to walk or run it. This suits anyone whose trip runs on transit and convention schedules. It does not suit a holiday built around quiet streets and long, slow mornings.
